VHSE @ GVHSS Perinthalmanna

VHSE was started in this school during the year 1990 with two Paramedical Courses viz: Medical Laboratory Technician and Maintenance and Operation of Biomedical Equipments.

The two Vocational courses offered here are aimed to train and educate the youth in order to fulfil the need of manpower in paramedical field. As part of the curriculum, students undergo On-the-Job Training in various medical institutions. Also they get chances to visit hospitals and medical institutions.

To promote the self-reliance, self-confidence and to improve the entrepreneurship and managerial skills among the students, the Vocational Higher Secondary Directorate started Production/Service cum Training Centres in all Vocational Higher Secondary Schools. As part of this project, we have started Production/Service cum Training Centre at school. Through P.T.C., this education system motivates the student's attitude towards self-employment.

After completion of the course, students are able to get jobs in hospitals, laboratories as Biomedical Technicians, Lab Technicians etc. Also, these courses are designed for Apprenticeship training under the Apprenticeship Act, which provides placement, training and stipend to the trainees within 3 years after the course completion. After completion of the course, they are eligible to apply for the post of Laboratory Technical Assistant in Vocational Higher Secondary Schools.

As paramedical field is a very vast and developing field, students get opportunities for improving their skills and get more specialized training in the related fields. There are lot of higher study options available for the fine-tuning of the career of the VHS pass outs.
